Hello SCLL Families,

We hope you all have been well over the last few weeks.  We wanted to provide an update around registration and share some news about an exciting event we have with a former San Carlos Little Leaguer and current Major Leaguer.

Spring Season Registration

We’re excited to announce that registration for the 2021 Little League season will open this Wednesday for all divisions (including a newly established Seniors division (age 15-16)!  To help us plan, we are asking families to register and coaches to sign up to volunteer by January 15th.  Every registrant will be put on a Waitlist, so no payment will be required at this time.  We will be implementing the following phased approach:

  • Phase One: “Spring Training”* – This phase represents the currently permitted “camp” style youth sports programs.  For our lower division teams (AA and below), division coordinators will place the plyers onto practice teams by the desired registered division and then by school.  For our upper division teams (AAA and above), we will conduct a draft based on last year’s ratings (or a try-out if permitted).  Once teams have been assigned, the practices will focus on training and skill development.  There will be no scrimmages, no games and no interaction between different teams.  Our target dates to begin this phase will be the week of March 1st.

  • Phase Two: “Regular Season”* – Please note that we can’t move to Phase Two without written approval by the City of San Carlos.  This phase anticipates a season as we have come to expect with teams being able to practice and play in games against other teams.

*The health and safety of our Little League community is paramount, and we will rely on state and local government and health officials for guidance on hosting youth sports in the Spring. Once our safety plan for each Phase is approved by the City of San Carlos, we will communicate accordingly.
