Opening Day Letter

San Carlos Little League families,

We have a few updates for you, so please bear with me as we go through them.

Thank our Sponsors
Before we do, I would like to thank our sponsors – NorthWall Builders, Worthing Capital, Conoley Electric, Auris Health, Goetz Bros. Sports, 2B Living, Saber Roofing, GDA Commercial and Junk King.

Opening Day and Friday Night Lights
There is nothing like Opening Day in San Carlos Little League. We are doing what we can to make this a special day for you and your players so we would encourage you to arrive a few minutes early to enjoy the Opening Day festivities.

While most games take place on Saturday, March 12th, we do have our Friday Night Lights tradition kicking off on Friday night.

With AA kicking things off on Stadium Field at 4:15, we have an SEC showdown between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators.  Shortly following on Highlands Field North at 4:30, we have our two AAA Division Coordinators competing for the opening night crown.  It will be the Trenton Thunder (Ryan Saber) and Bowling Green Hot Rods (Tom Glass).  Hmmm, I coached on both of those teams—who do I want to win?  Following the AAA game and before the Majors game, we have a special night recognizing our California State Juniors Champions from 2021.  Please join us for the fun!    To cap off Friday Night Lights at 7 pm, we have my Giants (managed by Dino Perazzo) playing the Majors defending champions, the Pirates (managed by James Deitrich).  We have not had a Friday Night Lights for nearly two years and we are so excited to kick off our season this way!  We are working to get the Snack Shack in full production at both Highlands and Arguello for the Saturday Majors games.

A Night with former MLBer, Kevin Jordan
But wait, there’s more.  To get all kids and parents even more fired up for Opening Day, San Carlos Little League will be sponsoring a webinar with Kevin Jordan.  Kevin is a retired Major League baseball player. His 16 year professional sports career was predominantly as an infielder with the Philadelphia Phillies where he played in the Majors for over 7 years. Statistically, he ranks as one of the best pinch hitters in franchise history and remains in the top 5 in pinch-hit homeruns as well as overall pinch-hits.  He is also very involved in supporting the next generation of baseball players through his work at The Cage in Belmont.  We’ll learn a little bit about Kevin’s journey from playing baseball as a kid through his time in the Bigs to now.  Please plan on joining us on Thursday, March 10th at 7 pm PST.
